Ludvig Hegner was a noteworthy figure in all his activities
within the Danish music scene. He was solo player in the Danish Royal Theatre orchestra. In the same orchestra as the Danish
composer Carl Nielsen was playing .
When he was 18 years old he heard Bottesini play, and he was a god friend of
Franz Simandl.
In 1896 Wilhelm Hansen Edition published his double bass school in two volumes.
Ludvig Hegner introduced in his school a four-finger system.
A system Ludvigs grandson Oscar Hegner (1897-1967), and his pupil Niels Henning
Ørsted Pedersen later perfected.
Legende and Nocturne are published
by C.F. Schmidt, Heilbronn a.N.Wilhelm Hansen Edition ( http://www.ewh.dk ) publishes Trois Morceaux, Fantasi, Elegi and Mazurka De Concert.
D. Rahter á Leipzig published Berceuse slave in several versions for violin
and piano, among others.
I found the piece for solo tuned double bass in a hand-written book from
around 1900.
Louis Glass "Nocturne" has being missing until I found it in 2000.
The premiere performance of this piece was in Musikhuset, Sønderborg, November
5, 2000, performed by me and Karsten Munk.
It is a strange and good feeling to make a recording of it on a CD exactly 100
years after it is written.
If anybody want midi files for practising or a copy of the Neruda piece - mail
me.
